Key West hulls ??

Post by flatsbroke »

I know a couple of guys that have the 1720 and 1520 Sportmans, both mid 2000's model and both in immaculate shape, fell in love with the lil old boats and now I've found one myself....here's the kicker-this one is 1991 dual console "Exployer" (VERY good shape btw) powered with a 2005 60hp 2-stroke Merc. My concern is the '91 hull, wanna say that I read somewhere that they were still using wood that year and later went to all FG hulls? Also very unfamiliar with that particuliar year and hp Merc, any Merc for that matter?? Some insight on either would be greatly appreciated. And even though 5k is little money to most, I'm not gonna make a 5k mistake. Thanks.

I have owned a 1500 and a 1720. Both are great boats. Key West
site says all boats 95 and after are all fiberglass.

KWB plant manager and other KWB employees answer questions on the forum regularly. You can ask "Tom" or "Mike" and they'll usually respond within a day or so. Tom's email is on his profile as well.
