That is pretty cool, easy to make and looks functional.
Re: Cool take on the PVC rod holder
Does look good but also looks like it wouldn't take much to snatch that rod out. I think I would want to add something to it like maybe a line with a clip to go on the rod or something. Thoughts?
Re: Cool take on the PVC rod holder
I'm guilty of homemade pvc rod holders...tight budget fishing y'know
I saw this a while back but decided against it because...
The angle is too low
I've had pvc fail because of just one connection.
Probably no problem for a red, or trout, but a big spanish, cobe, or grouper would take your rig to the house.
One of the first things you will learn out here is that baited rods should be in your hand or in a good holder.
NEVER...frikkin...NEVER lay it down.
I've seen rods laid down and snatched out of the boat in the blink of an eye. The bubble trail the reel leaves is awesome too.
My buddy had a stratic snatched off the boat because he left a spoon dangling 6 inches above the water when he layed it down.
A spanish came out of the water next to the boat and cya.....

Re: Cool take on the PVC rod holder
I had a tarpon take a new $200 Pen setup out of my yak last year when I laid it down and not paying attention. I got to see if bounce across the water for a few hundred feet. That sucker is tethered down now. If anyone catches a tarpon with a rod and reel attached, can I have it back?
