Slow at Econfina 5/23

Post by cheesecrakr »

Got there late and headed East from the river. We fished the creek mouths and oyster beds and caught 3 catfish and a 17" trout. Someone pulled up on us and started fishing and wouldn't you know it, that's when I spotted a group of feeding reds between our boats, heading towards his boat. Someone on their boat cast and got one, the reds left, and the other boat left shortly after. The rest of the day was a bust. We went out to 5 and 6 feet of water to try for some rock bass but it wasn't to be. Got on the water around 3 and back on the trailer as the sun was setting. We never caught that many catfish at Econfina in one trip.

Sorry it was slow, that seems to be the norm lately. I wonder if the fish are further out now, water temp hit 83 2 days ago.

It was slow at St. Marks too. It sure was a nice day though once the wind died down.
