Sharks in the surf

Any general tips for the best time (in daylight) to catch sharks from Alligator Point beach? Incoming, outgoing, high, low? I know it's best if you can throw it a country mile or have someone kayak the bait out a hundred yards. Maybe if one would get serious about it he'd fish for them at night, but I'd like to find a time during the day when the wind isn't in my face and whatever tide would be best.

Just about any cut bait will catch them in the day- I always use a 5/0 or 6/0 circle hook.
You will do better if you can get it out a little deeper.

Mudd cove holds them but you really have to get it out past the knee deep water to catch one of any size.
The area on bay side by the fish cleaning station at the marina ramp has some HUGE sharks.
Also the channel on the tip of the point on the outgoing tide.

The key is to get out of your boat and wade fish in Big Cove, by the St Marks Lighthouse. I generally see no action until I get bored and hop out of my canoe into the channel. Once past waist deep, it's typically only about 10 minutes before a curious 6 foot blacktip moseys up and helps me empty my bladder.
