Combination of T-Top and Bimini

Post by vetman2 »

Does anyone use a combination of both a Bimini top and a T-Top? I have looked for pictures, but all I can find are pictures of extenders off of the T-top. I would like to have something that will provide a little more shade than just a T-top.

I have read all the difficulties of fishing with a Bimini top and the drawbacks, but my children are very fair skinned. I have even thought about placing the Bimini mounting rails in front of my T-top and behind my T-top so that I could move a Bimini in front or back of the boat as desired. I also want a shade that I can keep in place while the boat is moving instead of having to take it down every time I want to change fishing spots.

Also, concerning a Bimini, is it better to spend the extra money for stainless fittings and stainless bows? I know the stainless would obviously last longer but they cost a lot more and I am told are quite heavy. Secondly, are custom made Bimini tops worth the extra money to have them made with one piece bows versus bows that snap together?

Any recommendations on a good place to have a custom Bimini (if that is better) made and installed?

I have seen this setup in the keys on a few boats. All they had done was add a bimini top to the bow area for shade. It doesn't affect the T top at all and can be taken off when its not needed. It would just have to be sized to fit. Do it in the front as the best fishing is in the back. It is really an easy setup

Don't know anything about them but saw it somewhere... looks like it would be better than a T-top and Bimini combo if it works
