Trolling Motor for Seachaser 186RG ???

Post by flatbrokeI »

I am trying to decide on what thrust TM do I need for a Sea Chaser 186 RG bay boat. I have decided on the Minn Kota Riptide ST with I pilot link but having trouble deciding on the 55# or 80#. The best I can calculate I would be around 2600 # max fully loaded most of the time less than fully loaded. Any help from some of you who might have this or a similar set-up would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody ever complains about having too much power... if you plan on using the Spot Lock feature the more thrust you have the more ability it will have to hold the spot in wind/current, I have a 70# iPilot and wish I had a 100# :D

I have roughly the same size bay boat. The 24 volt 80 pound setup is the only choice. Don't even consider the 12 volt system. I have the 55 pounder on my Gheenoe.

I had the 55lb thrust on my 17ft Key West and it wasn't enough.
