Sunday at St Marks 8-2
Had the day off and it was the one year anniversary of my nephew's very serious burn (6 week induced coma at Shands burn unit serious). So I invited him to go fishing. Weather looked ugly, spitting a misty rain, but no lightning, so away we went. Launched the boat and had all the bait we could possibly need in about 6 tosses of the net. Ran to spot we wanted to go. No one there. It is usually a pain to get the anchor to set there as the bottom tends to be sandy. Caught it on the first attempt. bait up the hook and toss it out. As I reel in the slack in the line, the line is moving! Bam, 24" red on very first cast, before the bait had hit the bottom. We then fish for 3 more hours, with nothing to show but one Jack and several shark hook ups and break offs (one was huge, when I set the hook he went a little nuts and his tail came out the water - BIG shark - with 20 pound braid, I just broke him off instantly before he could spool me). Gar and sharks messed with our bait the rest of the morning, but it was a relaxing day anyways. We headed in.
That night my nephew started having severe stomach pain and it turned out to be gall stones! He just now got out of surgery and is doing okay. We all told him he needs to just sleep through Aug 2nd every year from here on out.

He is out of surgery and doing well. He is all the way better from the burns. Now get him over the gall bladder thing. He is a Forestry firefighter and all his time off for the burns was donated to him by other state workers, so he will be okay for this new time off. Poor dude has had a rough year though. He is a strong man though.

Onefishtwofish,
How old is your nephew? The reason I asked is because I am a Shriner and I know with burns that serious, it can take years of treatment. If he is under 18, I would be happy to help him get help from the Shriners Hospitals for Children. No cost to the family and best care available.

Thanks very much, but he is grown. 27. His burns are all healed at this point. The only complication he had for his surgery was they had to do it a little higher up on his abdomen due to some scarring.
And thanks Mud, it is working already. I just talked to him and he is doing well.

HOPE HE GETS COMPLETE RECOVERY SOON, IT IS BAD TO BE BED RIDDEN WHEN YOU ARE OLD, BUT A LOT WORSE WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG.
