St Goerge Island bridge-Aug 29 2015 Report

Post by DEADLYMNM7 »

We went fishing in St George Island State Park by the last pavillion that leads to East Pass. Was worried the sand was to wet to go to East Pass. We fished on the beach and the surf was rough. Cloudy no raing. Caught one whiting. This was at 1:30 pm. We the St George Island Bridge before crossing over the main bridge to the island. It was cloudy but no raing and the was a little choppy and muddy. While walking to our fishing spot on the bridge we saw someone bring in a huge Bull Black Drum. I cast in with shrimp and in 10 minutes I had a huge fight with bull black drum! I only had a 20 lb mono line with a ugly stick and Encore reel. Diddnt think I could get him but i 35 minutes i brought him in. I had to borrow someone's net to bring him in but we did it! Very exhausted from that!
I had 3 other friends with me and I showed them in the past how to fish there and sure enough they all caught bull red drums! The tough part was that the guy with the net left so we had to walk them in!
They had a great time and I am sure they will never forget there bull red drums as they swam back home!

The big sailcats off that bridge are awesome to catch. They make some great fillets, eat good!

Some slime, not too bad. One thing you can do is fillet them there on the bridge, soak the fillets in ice.
