This mornings St. Marks "fish story"!
Me and my son drop the boat in at the lighthouse just before sun up. Two throws of the cast net and enough bait fish to last the day. Run to the flats East of the lighthouse and start running bait under corks. Shark here, catfish there……Drift out into deeper water just because nothing happening at 4-5 feet. Sit there for thirty minutes with two lines out and nothing. After missing a few phone calls and being bored stiff, I turn around to get me phone off the console. As soon as I do, I hear all kinds of racket and turn to see my rod sliding across the transom of the boat and start flying across the water. As Im watching this in disbelief, I see a LARGE Tarpon clear the water and shake his head back and forth. About that time the rod stopped its journey and came to rest. Ran over and retrieved my tackle. Wow! All in all, a pretty exciting morning.

Nice work getting your rod and reel back. Luck was on your side

Catholic girl pray for me, you’re my only hope for heaven

Davie Johns has a lot of tackle in his locker! If a man fishes long enough Old Davie will have one of his. Glad you recovered yours. Thanks for the story and reminder.

You are lucky my friend. My rods don't float.

Congrats on the retrieval! Bait fish or tarpon and everything in between can snatch a rod!

It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
