I like all the salt recommendations... but check out all the public ramps on Talquin.
You can do well on catfish at most of them. And they are all ADA so getting in and out should be easy!

Just checking back after my original post.

Shield's has a floating dock that is always low to the water, so it makes the transfer easier.

Also, one place I haven't seen mentioned is the old St. George Isl. bridge. It is now a fishing pier and some spots out there can be very productive. I am not sure if it would be too long for him to endure the hike. Also, bridge fishing gear is a little different than shore fishing. You will need a hoop net on a rope to get the fish over the rail, and a heavier rod / reel combo.

I thought about SGI but I think it would be too long of a walk for him. Although he could break out his scooter, maybe he would let me hitch a ride on the back cause that pier looks loooong

The SGI pier is long, but you don't have to go out very far to find fish. The water is only about 4-5 ft. deep most of the way out, so you can walk out a short ways and fish. Try around some of the pilings, and if that doesn't work cast far out with the tidal flow. A 1 oz. wt. should be enough to keep it on bottom, but carry some heavier ones if the tide or wind is bad. Good luck. You can always move if the spot you are in isn't producing.
