Asking for a favor please…….

Post by randymullaly »

My son is home on leave from the USAF and I plan to take him fishing Monday and really hope to put him on some fish. With this cold weather this weekend, Im hoping that the trout will be in the river at St. Marks. Id be very grateful if anyone fishing there this weekend would post a report so I can make the call Sunday night as to fishing the river or running to Rock Landing and working the grass line for Red's.

It might get cold enough this weekend to push them upriver. You may just have to go try them.

I ran the new skiff from Shields up past Newport yesterday afternoon to get some time on the engine. Marked lots of fish on sonar but didn't even carry a rod. Water temps ranged from 65 to nearly 66 degrees. Imagine it'll be a little cooler after tonight's low.

Hope this helps. Lots of ducks and wading birds upriver. Have fun with your son regardless and tell him thanks for his service.

Check out the other thread about the river too. Fished the flats and coves the last two weekends with little success. We were using an assortment of artificial lures. Maybe that was our problem... This past Friday, a friend and I fished up the river with live shrimp and had a good time[THUMBS UP SIGN]. Nothing huge, but glad to find some fish again.

Good luck!!! Reminds me that I need to take my father fishing.

Fished with a buddy on Tuesday early/mid afternoon in coming tide. We caught reds on Captain mikes and redfish magic.
Fished the oyster bar just before East river. Also managed 5. Nice trout on tipped jigs

We did and nothing much to report BUT still had a great time catching up with my son. Talked to several guys on the river and the trout just aren't there. Tried shrimp on the bottom at the usual places and was surpassed that the mangrove snappers weren't there either. Very grateful for those who posted a repot. Looks like he will be home for the New Year holiday so we will make another run at it.
