St Marks 9/30, Spring Creek 10/1

Post by eat_mo_crawfish »

Hit the lighthouse early Thursday, water was low and dark. Went out to the west flats near the birdrack to find some water. Set up a drift and caught nice trout. Didn't have much luck anywhere else on the flats. Moved in to the bars when the tide starting rising in the afternoon, and picked up another nice trout and a bunch of reds, all small.

Went to Spring Creek late Friday afternoon with a buddy. We caught a couple dozen keeper-sized reds and two nice trout. The water was even darker than St. Marks.

Caught the trout on white jigs, the reds on shrimp.

And none of them tasted even slightly like mercury.

That's great! Now that I am allowed TWO whole big redfish a week, I better get out there right now, and more often. Spring Creek, eh? Where abouts? Out in Oyster Bay? In the channel? By a creek?

This is mighty temptin'.....! ;-)

We were fishing the oyster bars in oyster bay.

Can't take much credit for the success on Friday. My buddy put us right on top of 'em. All I had to do was bait, cast, and hold on.
