Falcon Coastal XG Replacement Rod Tips
Was in Wally's World a little while ago on Tennessee Street in Tallahassee and noticed a few (two spinning, one baitcasting) Falcon Coastal XGs had been marked down to 33 bucks and some change. Thought I had found the deal of the day until I looked up and noticed all three were missing tips (and maybe an ich or two above the top eye). I got the two spinning (7'6 M), anyway, thinking it shouldn't be much to have them repaired. Not sure if it was a wise decision or not since I know this defect could effect the action of the rod, but considering I got two rods for less than the price of one, I guess it's worth the risk.
Thing is, I'm not sure if I should contact Falcon for replacement parts, visit a local repair shop, or just get a cheap pack of replacement tips they sell in most tackle stores. Any suggestions?

Local repair or do-it-yourself. Doubt Falcon would even offer replacement parts. Local repair will probably have them in stock if they are Fuji or other name brands.

You can get just about anything rod wise from Mudhole if you opt for DIY, I wouldn't use a Wallyworld special generic tip. Buddy of mine took a bunch of stuff over to TLH and had all kinds of repairs done so somebody over there can fix them for you...

The trouble with ordering top eyelets on line is that you may have to buy several to get the one you need. The best way is to have the rod with you when you try to select the replacement eye. I believe Bass Pro has a guy in the back that does reel and rod repair. If you take the rod to him, he can match it up and glue it while you wait.
Most top eyes will come off or go on by heating them with a lighter and using the glue provided in the kit. The exception to this rule is one that somebody has replaced in the past and used Super Glue or something similar. A Falcon rod with an inch or two missing off the tip is definitely worth repairing in my opinion.

falcon will send a handful of parts but for some reason they won't send guides.
mudhole has them, they are a size 6 if it's one of the runner guides towards the top.. the GUIDE size for the tip will also be a 6 but the tube size is what you would need to know and unless you have a tip sizing tool it's hard to guess.
the correct way to repair those rods would be to remove the last guide, replace and the tip and then place the last guide in a place where the guides are even again.
your action will not be the same but, if you're only missing an inch or two, the change shouldn't be drastic.
worst case, send them to falcon and let them give you a new rod.

Re: Falcon Coastal XG Replacement Rod Tips
I called Bass Pro a few days ago and they don't have anyone in the store who repairs rods and reels.
So I figured I'd contact Falcon to find the exact type of Fuji tips they use and do the repair myself after ordering them from Mudhole. E-mailed Falcon this morning and got a prompt reply. The representative had me send pictures and measure from the top eye to the tip and also the length of the rods from butt to tip. Both measured 7 feet 4 inches, which made me wonder if any of the rod was actually missing other than the tip. The representative said that appears to be the case and asked for my address. I sent it to to him, but have yet to get a reply just yet.
