2016 Flats Pro Seminars
FLATS PRO SEMINAR
Both sessions are now completely SOLD OUT.
Sign up now to attend the Flats Pro Seminar on Saturday, February 6 or Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Shields Marina in St. Marks. This comprehensive one-day course will feature instruction on when, where and how to fish the flats of Apalachee Bay and the Forgotten Coast. Topics will include knots, tackle, lures, baits, tides and lunar phases, navigation, flats etiquette, boat, kayak and trailer rigging and other subjects to help anglers catch more redfish, trout and other inshore game fish. Captains Dave Lear and Chuck Simpson will be the primary instructors, along with Brett Shields. A lunch and goody bag with lures, hooks, charts and other valuable information ($25 value) is included with admission. More than $1,000 in door prizes, including Shimano spinning reels, Costa sunglasses, tackle and other outdoor gear, will also be awarded.
WHEN: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 6 (SOLD OUT) or SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2016 (SOLD OUT)
9:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m
WHERE: SHIELDS MARINA SHIP’S STORE, ST. MARKS, FL
COST: $85 (Seating is limited; advance registration required)
Junior Anglers (12-16) $25 when accompanied by an adult
REGISTRATION: http://www.captaindavelear.com
The notice in today's Tallahassee Democrat was a little confusing. The identical one-day seminars will be held on Saturday OR Sunday. Saturday typically fills up first. We also offer gift certificates for the holidays. Add a note to the payment for recipient's name and we'll mail the certificate back.
We add new stuff every year and several have attended more than once. The PowerPoint presentation showing launch sites and spots to fish is very popular. The adults attending get an angler bag loaded with stuff (the juniors get their own) and we're giving away tons of free door prizes, including Shimano spinning reels, Costa polarized sunglasses, coolers, art, tackle, technical clothing and more each day.

Re: 2016 Flats Pro Seminars
Still seats available but the Saturday session is filling up fast, in typical fashion. Register soon to ensure a spot. Gift certificates can also be mailed for the holidays if the registration is received in the next week or so. The one-day classes will be held on Saturday, February 6 and again Sunday February 7, 2016, at our Presenting Sponsor, Shields Marina in St. Marks.
Our Platinum Sponsor, www.eagleclaw.com, is on board again for 2016. Eagle Claw, maker of quality hooks and terminal tackle in Denver, Colorado, will be supplying a variety of lure and live bait hooks for the angler bags. We certainly appreciate their generous support. The angler bags are filled with goodies, magazines and other stuff (a $25 value).
A new sponsor this year is my long-time friend, Dr. Guy Harvey. Guy has graciously donated two limited edition prints of trout and redfish titled Chums and has personally signed each one. One will be given away each day as part of the free door prizes. Other giveaways include soft-side coolers, Costa polarized sunglasses and Shimano Sedona spinning reels, lures and technical clothing.
To sign up, please visit http://www.captaindavelear.com and click on the Seminar page.
Thanks and we hope to see a bunch of you in February.

Still time for gift certificates to be mailed to arrive by Christmas Eve, if you have someone on your list who loves fishing.

Re: 2016 Flats Pro Seminars
The Sunday class is rapidly approaching a sell-out as well. If you'd like to attend the fastest way to register is through PayPal using a credit card.
Once Sunday is full we'll start a waiting list. We generally have one or two who have something come up at the last minute and we fill those available seats with those on the waiting list.
The angler bag goodies and door prizes are here or in shipment. We're going to have a lot of stuff to give away again. Look forward to seeing everyone at Shields Marina in February.
Happy New Year!
