BARRY SORRY TO HEAR THAT. ONE NIGHT ABOUT 10 P.M., I PULLED INTO THE TRUCK STOP UP IN COLUMBIA, S. CAR. TO GET FUEL AND GET A LATE NIGHT SNACK, AFTER I HAD FUED UP WENT INTO THE RESTURANT TO GET A MEAL. WHEN I WENT IN I HEARD OLE MERLE AND WILLY NELSON SINGING, THOUGHT IT WAS THE JUKE BOX RECORD BUT THEY WERE THERE IN PERSON. GLEN CAMBELL ,ROY CLARK, AND BUCK OWENS CAME IN AND JOINED THE GROUP A LITTLE LATER. THERE WAS A HUGE CROUD THAT GATHERED IN THE RESTURANT THAT NIGHT. THOSE FELLAS STAYED THERE AND PLAYED FOR I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG, I HAD TO LEAVE AT 2 A.M. SO I COULD GET TO DETROIT BY 10 A.M., THAT WAS ONE OF THE BEST TIMES I CAN REMEMBER IN THE 30 YEARS THAT I WAS OUT ON THE ROAD. NEEDLESS TO SAY I DID NOT MAKE IT TO DETROIT ON TIME. OLD MERLE WAS A GREAT SINGER AS WELL AS THE REST OF THAT GROUP THAT CAME IN AND ENTERTAINED US AT THE COLUMBIA 76 TRUCK STOP. NEVER WILL FORGET THAT NIGHT. MERLE WILL BE MISSED.

That's an amazing story, Pa. They say he was in Tifton, Ga. last July and did a great show. He was one of the greats.
