I'll be in South Florida for the High School State Track Meet. Told my boys they better make it worth me missing a Saturday of fishing.

Absolute favourite tournament of the year! An absolute treat and the closest we can get to "Keys quality water" in our big bend region.
I'll be missing this year's fun - headed back to MS to take the little bro fishing before he ships back out (Navy). Y'all catch'em up and have a blast!

fishing has picked up a lot over the past couple weeks. Matt and I won with 12.5#s. We caught probably 75 trout. We saw 6-8 reds, all singles, and only managed one 28" fish. Pretty much everything ate topwaters
Goodson and Milton took second. Huck had the big trout at ~4.2#s and third place. A 2# pompano was weighed. Can't remember who won the reds.

Thanks for the update, Brian. Congrats on the win. Sounds like it's worth another drive back over. Has the water clarity improved in those spots where it was murky previously?

a bit. Still many locations that aren't as clear as I would expect. A lot of grass has grown in the past 2 weeks, but it seems the bait fish haven't located all that new grass yet. I haven't seen a shiner yet, but mackeral were thick a couple weeks and pompano are there now. Another Club member said he saw a cobia the day before the tournament. Should be going off in another week or so...

Gary Zellner won the Red side pot and the water temp was a little cool to be the first week in May, 68 degrees in the morning warming up to 72 in the afternoon
