Venice extravaganza
Finally made it down to Venice for our long awaited boys fishing trip. My brother had fished there several times and he convinced me we needed to go. We fished with Captain Patrick Dickinson of Dixie riverside Charters and stayed in their lodge. I cannot say enough good things about him or our trip. Our weather was brutal the first day with 25 mph winds from the north and a 20 degree drop in temperature. The river was high and muddy and the water was dirty. I fished for 2 hours without a bite, but Captain Patrick kept moving us around until we finally found some fish that would cooperate. Eventually we ended up with our limit of reds. Awesome accomplishment since everyone else cancelled their trips. The second day the weather was better and we absolutely wore the fish out. We caught better fish too. We caught our limit of reds that day and then went and caught some trout. There were bulls eating the trout and we ended up catching 8 of them with the largest being 37 inches. We caught 8 species of fish from the same spot including largemouth and white bass.Crazy. We left them biting that day even though we could have fished longer. The last day, the wind was from the north again, but we caught our reds and flounder. Tried to trout fish, but it was too rough. All fish were caught on live shrimp under a cork. We brought a ton of tackle including fly rods, but the wind and water conditions just would not allow us fish differently. If you love to redfish, this is a must trip for you. I will be back.http://s1374.photobucket.com/user/jwf3m ... p.jpg.html
