Any suggestions on fishing around Hawk's Cay at Duck Key? Going down the second week of June.

We took a charter when we went to Hawk's Kay. Caught a lot but that is what is supposed to happen on a charter! The carter guys on the dock talked about the high concentration of sharks. Not sure I can help anymore then that. Caught a lot of Amberjack!

If you have a boat the Mangrove snapper will on the reefs getting ready to spawn. They are non stop after dark if you feel comfortable out there after dark. They will also be around the bridges. After dark is always best, but you can catch fish anytime. They usually have some evening charters that target the snapper bite and they were real reasonable. You will have a blast regardless.
People that catch a lot of fish fish a lot!

I grew up in that area. If you plan to use your boat, I'd suggest fishing the channels near the bridges. You should find tarpon, jewfish, permit, snook and mangrove, lane and mutton snapper there along with plenty of grunts. There are two reefs on the ocean side.. closest is aprox 2 miles out to the south west, the other 4 to 5 miles out. Both are good for reef fish.. and cudas. (smaller fish on the 2 mile reef) I'd suggest doing a trip on the Marathon Lady charter boat. It's on the left just over the Vaca Cut bridge going into Marathon Shores.. They have a night trip that runs from something like 6 p.m. to midnight. It's a charter to remember... lots of yellowtail snapper if you can get them past the sharks.
Life is short.... Ride a Harley and fish a Sea Pro
