Etec owners performance reports

Post by Redbelly »

While I wait for my 150HO to be rigged, I would like to hear from etec owners on your satisfaction or dissatisfaction.

Lay it in the line either way. Also how long have you been running yours?

Thanks!

Got three, 135HO, 115 and 30 horse. Never an issue with any of them. Decent on fuel and plenty power

I had a 90 Hp on a 198 DLV Skiff for 6 yrs . No problems except before I sold it having some problems getting up on plane if we had a heavy group on board . Changed the prop and that helped . I ran synthetic oil in it and it was a little pricey . I have a 238 DLV Skif with a 150 Yammy and love it !

I'm on my third. Had two small block 200s on the Bayshore. Great hole shot, very good fuel economy and oil usage, plus it was 75 pounds lighter than a comparable four-stroke. Allowed me to get in on rising tides much earlier and stick around longer.

I'm running a short-shaft 30 on the Beavertail Micro now. Again, good hole shot, light and extremely fuel efficient. I can go all day and burn less than 2 gallons of gas! Have to remind myself to check the oil reserve because it's super stingy in that department too. I have it programmed to run the XD-100 oil. After you've broke yours in with the 50, I'd recommend switching over.

The HO models that I have used on test boats have had similar performance.

Pay attention to whatever they tell you about fuel quality. One of the guys I fish with in Panama City had all sorts of trouble with his until he went to non-ethanol fuel with an additive. (I can't remember what he was adding to it.)

After that adjustment - no further issues.

Have a 2012 Etec 90hp on an 18 ft action craft. other than a trim relay and slight trim pump issue (repaired under warranty), Its been great. Seems as strong as my old 115 yammie carbed. would buy another in a second. great on gas.
