Missing boater - Steinhatchee

Post by zload »

Well I found out what all of the LEO activity was on the river Monday morning as noted in one of my earlier posts. Two boaters on a 15' Sea Fox Monday night had engine problems and both got in the water to attempt repairs, apparently lost the boat and got separated. A boater found the lady in the water 9 miles SW of the river Monday morning and apparently they have not located the man, boat was found about 15 miles from the river. Time line makes sense as I was on the dock right at about 10:20am when I saw the FWC boat go screaming out of the river and about an hour later saw the USCG boat being trailered in.

Don't know if it was related but we saw the ambulance come by as I was taking the boat out of the water around 10:30 Monday morning. Had no idea what was going on. It had gotten pretty snotty out there Sunday afternoon. Definitely not a good time to be in the water. Hope she is ok and they find the guy.

Starting to see different stories now Sheriff's office reporting the man jumped over board because it was hot and she saw he was in was in distress she jumped in after him but never saw him again and boat driftrped off. I didn't know anything was going on at the time but was only abot 2 miles from where they found her. Report said the good samaritan boater transported her to Sea Hag and then USCG was called probably no VHF on either boat, she was taken to ER for dehydration/exposure. I didn't go out Sunday saw a few storms pop up and the smoke start from the wildfire that lightning started but didn't think the wearher was too bad at least from the balcony. It was blustery Sat. evening when I went out.

It was a good 2-3 foot seas when I went in around 5-5:30. I stopped at the end of the channel for my girlfriend to relieve herself and I was taking waves over the stern.
