First Cobia
Went down to St. Marks and fished the flats. This was the first time down in about a year. Didn't have much luck on the flats with trout (1 20" and several shorts) so decided to head out to a spot in about 15' and float a pinfish. In less than 5 minutes we were hooked up!
My wife did a tremendous job of pulling anchor, moving rods, lifting motor, getting gaff and holding the rod while I gaffed him! Realized a 17' flats boat isn't really built for cobra fishing, but I'm not sure I would have rather had any of my guy friends that I've ever fished with helping. After about 25 minutes we finally had him in the boat.
I bought a set up about 3 years ago and have floated a pinfish behind the boat at all times, but never hooked up. Glad to finally have the first one in the boat!
Could've been a double if we were prepared!

Nice work! I caught my first cobe at St. Marks a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't nearly as big as yours, but still a lot of fun! Good work!
NOAA reports are the reason I have trust issues.

Nice cobia. I always drag a pinfish but wonder if it's too far from boat. Should it be close 10-15' from the boat?

Very nice. Prefect description of my first cobia as well. Also at St Marks and just trailing a pinfish. Mine was 2" shy of legal, so I kinda don't count it. Great job!
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?

Ain't it FUN! Yep, you have the best fishing buddy you'll ever need. My wife fishes with me and we love it.
Good job…..do it again.

Congrats Fishing Coach! Really nice cobe and looks like painted and unpainted digits all made it through the catch unscathed (unlike the shared story
