bald point area fishing report

Post by ertauber »

Usually fish 3-4 times a week and the fishing has been so great for the last month. However, one big difference for the last week has been 4-5 foot long sharks on every sand bar and flat in the area. My tackle is not for sharks so when I hook one of these hot rods it may be exciting for the first 10 seconds but pausing to enjoy could easily cost you all of the line on your reel. In between shark bites catching reds and trout is great. Even if sometimes you may land a head of a trout.

Welcome to fishing O-bay in the summer! or really, a lot of our inshore areas in the summer.

Bald Point and the entrance to O-bay has an abundance of aquatic life, much of which tickles the tastebuds of those sharks.

Try and stay away from live bait and just fish jigs/artificials for a bit once you find them around, and focus on fishing early mornings... once it heats up, those sharks steamroll themselves through there.

If you catch a blacktip, though, save and eat that SOB! Just make sure you gut it immediately (after it dies) and get it on ice. :lick: :lick: :lick: :lick:
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark
