Father's Day weekend

Post by fishfalcon »

Had a great Father's day weekend down at the coast. Saturday, my teenage son got up and fished with me and we caught a bunch of shorts and some ladyfish. He laughed at me because I had a bite while drinking my coffee. I set the hook one handed and managed to spill coffee all over me. Fortunately for me, that fish was a 19" trout so I got to poke fun back at at him. I caught a 17" and he was stuck catching shorts so I was giving him grief when he hooked a good fish. it took some drag and then came to the surface and shook it head. Ended up being the fish of the trip at a solid 22" and thick. We had a big 3 family breakfast and then ran back out in 2 boats. We caught a bunch of baby trout, before the kids got tired and started jumping off the boat. I moved a little further out and found one pocket of of legal fish. we boated 4 keepers in 10 minutes plus a Spanish. The wind died and it got hot, so we ran in. My mom and dad came down for the afternoon and I got to fish with my dad and my son. We caught a bunch of ladyfish and a few shorts, plus one 16" trout. We took our fish to Spring Creek and they did a great job of cooking them up for us. Sunday, the wind was awful but Saltwater for ME came down with his 3 girls wife and mom and we managed to put them on some fish. The girls caught 8 trout and a 2.5' shark in about 40 minutes, before they were ready to play on the beach. All in all, it was a great weekend.

[That's the real definition of being a multi-tasker; Son, dad and hubby all in one trip. Glad you had some luck and lots of fun. Thanks for posting.
