Here's the Saturday report.....

Me and TC put in at the Fort at 11:00 and did some exploratory trolling for some grouper. We followed a few numbers that TC had stored in his GPS. TC said the water temperature still needs to drop a little more before the big grouper come in closer to shore. It sure was nice riding in that new boat. I have been trying to recover from a cracked rib for three weeks. This trip was my first boat trip since then. I took two days of pain medicine while I we were trolling. The ride out was smooth but in the afternoon the wind kicked up a little and it made the boat ride a little rough. I was pretty sore Sunday and spent the day taking it very easy. Picked up a bunch of shorts, and one small rock bass. No keepers, but I sure learned allot. (Thanks again TC)

Yesterday was calmer. Went a little further out, and a little deeper. Trolled some areas that have ben productive in the past. Caught the 'Cuda, and a few shorts on the FAMU bait. I was watching the bottom reader and marking fish, but they wouldn't hit my trolling bait. So, I rigged a 3oz. jig, and drifted where I had marked the fish. There are 2 reds and 2 gags in the picture. I had another gag that was 22.1", but didn't want to take the chance of the fish shrinking in the cooler. That gave me a total of 5 keepers, 4 were no question keepers. Also caught about 15 shorts on the jig.

Stopped by a close in area that MJ and I checked Saturday. We caught several shorts there. Trolled through one time and got a good hookup. The 'Cuda musta damaged my wire leader. I lost the fish, and my FAMU bait. Drifted back through the area and caught several more shorts on the jig.

The grouper are in 25 ft. of water, or less. But the keepers aren't aggressive enough to catch trolling............YET.

I must of missed this one while I was out of town......As Tom said, I hope you didn't put that stinking cuda in the cooler...That's got to be one of the stinkiest fish out there...

Did you hit the marked fish with a figure eight or just troll them up and down?

Thanks for the flowers and supper tonight too :smt047 :smt042
