St Marks 8/13/16 fish/scallop report.

Al and I got to the fort ramp at sunrise and still got in lot parking. Image. We headed out to try and catch some fish. The water was 85-87 degrees and slightly stained. We fished from 6-10' of water and only a few short trout to show for it. Image. Image. Well if we can't catch fish we might as well swim. So we headed over by Grey Mare. Image. I actually swam up to it. Man it's big. I would not want to hit that rock. Nothing was going on there so we moved a couple of times and then hit the jackpot. We got them sometimes 5-7 scallops sitting close together. Got our limit in an hour. Image. Image. Cleaned them on the boat then headed in. Good day on the water. Had a great time. Image. It was not even bad at the ramp.

Went out thursday and got all but skunked. Was really windy and fishing was tough.

Went out Fri and got a short trout but they were biting. I was out with the Mrs. so I didn't fish long and mostly half hearted. I feel like i'd do well in 7' well east of the lighthouse but the seas have been kicking up so hard off the flats its not worth it to me.

I'm going out today and i'll let you know.. Strategy this time is to fish live pinfish vs artificial and sit back/relax.
