scalloping
Does anyone have a scallop report from Steinatchee or Keaton Beach???
Excerpt from the FS Board:
Trout fishing is a tricky business unless you're one of the first boats out. The flotilla of scallopers I saw on Saturday would make it difficult to make a cast with snagging a snorkler. The trout are most active in the cool of the morning anyway, so plan on an early trip and come in early. Or fish the morning and jump in for scallops in the heat of the day.
Scallops are still abundant. The best areas are the sand holes that dot the grass flats. Don't rush to get every scallop you can in the least amount of time. Take some 'float time' to enjoy the other life that abounds in the grass. Starfish, conch, crabs and a variety of fish are all around you as you scallop. And they are probably laughing at us for being the funniest looking awkward creature in the water. On a serious note, I witnessed a reckless boater running on plane through a cluster of scallopers. He had to dodge the boats in the area with abrupt turns. For God's sake let's slow down; what is the rush in the first place? Take good care of yourself and others.

“Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.”
