I know this isn't really in the big bend, but it is close enough for most folks to drive if they want to bad enough.
We headed to P.C. for the weekend for the Capt. Anderson's Fishing Rodeo. We had high hopes of posting some big fish on an offshore trip Sat. morning. Well, for those of you that went Sat. morning I don't have to explain how rough it was. I had my mind set on a hole in 98' of water but had to go to plan "B" about 4 miles offshore. We managed to pick up one nice snapper and a few short grouper before being run off the hole by a dive boat. Sorry divers but there is nothing worse than fishing a good spot and having 20 people bail out in the water right by your boat. I am always afraid we will hook somebody so we leave. I know that the ocean is a public place, but where does common courtesy come into play. Anyway, the east wind was still blowing strong at 10:00 and we had been beat up enough. So we ran back in to the pass and gave the red fish a try. The Bull reds are there and in force. We weren't there 5 minutes and I hooked up with a monster. He ended up being a personal best of 41". Worn down from the fight I gave my buddy a turn and he hooked up again. This one was 40". The really fun part was this was on really light tackle. The 40" fish was caught on one of my shimano 4000's with 12# Ande line. He did have a 30# floro leader, but a 40" redfish on 12# was GREAT. We go it all on video as well.
The rodeo entry was money down the drain, but there is fresh snapper in the fridge and a picture of a redfish that will weigh 5 pounds!! I have had enough of P.C. for a while. We will be back at Carrabelle this week.

Chalk - I told you those reds were in the pass. They are right between the #5 green bouy and the west jetties. You have got to fish them on an outgoing tide. When they are feeding they will hit almost anything. The trick is getting it to the bottom while the current is so swift. We caught them on heavy jigs and on pin fish.
