Batteries
I need a new battery for my John boat. It is just a pond boat with a trolling motor. I have always bought Napa (deep cycle) dual purpose batteries and had awesome luck. I'm fact, the one I'm replacing is 5 years old. I thought about going to an AGM or an Optima battery.
Are you guys sold on the higher end batteries or still using dual purpose. I talked to an Interstate battery dealer today and he said that all of their deep cycle batteries are technically dual purpose. I'm just looking to get more time out of a charge.

Re: Batteries
A group 31 is all you need. I would spend the extra money on a battery maintainer. Instead of the optima or use two group 24s.

Re: Batteries
When a trolling motor is involved, I've switched to Optima or AGM with good results. I've got one that is at least 8 years old and still going strong.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Deka AGM, never had a problem.
Re: Batteries
Be sure you get a computer controlled charger.
For the money, this one is hard to beat:

Re: Batteries
Sam's club had a reasonably priced agm battery that I'm using on my boat. No complaints so far, and under a hundred bucks. Haven't checked lately to know if they still have them.
