Shell Point 2/4/2017

Post by fishfalcon »

Met my buddy Tim and we launched about 8:30. It was cooler on the water than I expected and windier. Tim caught a trout first cast out on the flats and I thought it was going to be easy. We ended up moving a lot fishing the flats, oyster bars and even up in the creeks and finding a few fish here and there but no set pattern and no keepers. Threw gulp, twitch baits, and spoons. Water was 58 and tannin stained. Got hungry and ran in for lunch. Mowed the grass and worked on the honey- do list until about 2:30. The wind had laid down and we went back out. Saw a few birds working over a shallow stretch so we decided to check it out. Water was several degrees warmer and the fish were more aggressive. We probably caught 60 trout over the next 2 hours 5 keepers to 16.5" and 3 dozen between 14" and 15". Took the legal ones to Spring Creek where they fixed them for supper. Great day on the water.

Not a bad way to finish the day! Especially having someone as good as Spring Creek cook you supper!
