St Marks

Post by justcoastn »

Finaly got a day off and headed down to St Marks to see if I could get me some dinner. Looks like a bowl of cereal will have to do. I put in around 11 am. These tides are pretty messed up. Headed out to an oyster bar off the channel and hit a few short trout right off the bat. It lasted about 10 minutes with no keepers and then it shut off. I moved around quite a bit for a couple more hours and could not buy a bite. I decided to move real slow up and down the channel keeping a close eye on the down imaging. Just looking for any structure that may hold some sea bass. I found a good looking spot that had a bunch of fish on it so I spun around and drifted over the spot bouncing a nuclear chicken gulp of the bottom, It didn't take long and I had a fish. Unfortunately it was a baby grouper and he a bunch of friends with him. Never did get anything to put in the cooler. I have tomorrow off and was thinking of heading to Steinhatchee. Anyone having any luck down that way? Also, I have never been there before so can someone tell me if you get out on a low tide? I was almost thinking of running off shore a bit and hitting a couple of the reefs if its worth while. Thanks

Sometimes your the hammer sometimes the nail, thanks for the report. The nearshore wrecks and rocks should be holding sheepshead now. If you go, take some live shrimp with you
