Pine tree sap

So I waited a tad too long to get the tarp on my boat last time out and ended up with a couple nickel sized blobs of pine tree sap on my boat deck. Any trick as how to get it off..well.

Fiberglass or Aluminum boat? For fiberglass, try acetone. For aluminum / Goo Gone

Acetone is the best. Take it off wet or dry and will not leave a oily mess.

Denatured alcohol works well.

Awesome guys. It is a fiberglass boat. My bad, that's pertinent info! WD40 seems safe but agree it may be greasy. Is the acetone safe for fiberglass? Where do I find it.

Acetone is used daily by boat builders. It will clean fiberglass but also strip wax, so you may need to re-apply. Don't get it in your eyes or open cuts.

You can buy it at home improvement and hardware/paint stores, plus marinas and West Marine.

Before you buy acetone, just try regular clear rubbing alcohol.

Mayonnaise works great on cars and leaves no trace on clearcoat or painted surfaces. Not sure about gel coat though.

Acetone works just fine on fiberglass and gelcoat. Just don't put it on ANY plastic. Follow up with whatever wax you use on the finish.
Isopropyl alcohol works too, just takes longer.

So the isopropyl alcohol worked perfect. And no worries about stripping wax. Thanks guys
