Keaton Beach 4/29 with a surprise

Post by flatsbroke22 »

The girlfriend and I left the ramp around 8:00 and headed south in a strong head wind. Only found a few shorts so we headed back north around Yates Creek and picked up a few keepers amoung several shorts. By now the tide had come up so I went in shallow to hunt for reds. Fished all around the bars but no reds in sight. Cast in between two bars with a redfin and it got hammered. Thought for sure I had a good red but when I got it to the boat to my surprise a nice 17" gag. Not bad for 2' of water. Safely released it to grow into a grouper samich! We went in for a couple yours to get a break from the wind and grab a bite to eat. Went back out to fish the falling tide and it produced two of the biggest trout of the day. On all most back to back cast a 19" and a 24" come over the gunnel. Ended the day with 6 trout and a bsb.

Very nice trout. We have caught 12-14" grouper before but none that big. Thanks for posting.
