Wakulla HS cross-country/track coach and retired FWC officer Paul Hoover was killed by a hit & run driver as he jogged across a pedestrian crossing on Springhill Road yesterday. Paul was one of the good guys; a relentlessly honorable and dedicated servant of the outdoors, a compassionate and extremely knowledgeable coach, and a highly accomplished runner (Gulf Winds Track Club Runner of the Year in 1993). He won the North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association annual award in 2006 (see link below).

Paul was also a constant reminder to me that a coach can inspire greatness without hollering at kids. He will be missed.
Please put the Hoover family in your thoughts and prayers.

That's sad news this morning. Thoughts and prayers to family and friends.

Tallahassee Police are looking for a light colored sedan with damage to the front-left side that fled the scene. This car would probably frequent the Springhill Rd. area. Please spread the word.
