Put in at the fort this am around 915. Didn't get in a big hurry driving down from alb since low was at 940'ish. Brought one of my sons friends and his dad along. Praying for some action since this was their first time in a long time in the salt. Tried for a red or two but no go. So headed out to the flats. Found 7-8 ft of water and first stop the action was non-stop. Sea bass abound . Stayed in one spot for nearly 2 hours. Couldn't buy a trout here but almost every cast was a sea bass. Then a couple short flounder then finally a barely legal flounder. Finally decided to look for mr. Speck. Finally found a few. Mostly shorts but found a few keepers. Pearl white or chartreuse hollow shrimp was the ticket. Water was pretty dang clear. Maybe a hint of tea. Very nice breeze until around 1 then it got a bit breezy. Bumpy ride back in. Water temp hit around 76. Tried really hard to find a red in the river on the way home. The inshore slam was so close I could taste it. But not this time. Oh well. Great day on the water with a couple 11 year olds and a couple 30-something year olds who prob wish they were still 11.
