Registering a boat trailer

This is the only place I can think of to ask this question so hopefully somebody can help. I have moved to Florida from Georgia. My boat trailer is registered in Georgia and I still have the registration. When I went to the DMV to find out what I needed to register it in Florida they said I need a certified weight slip. How am I supposed to get my boat trailer weighed with the boat on it? I can't take it off because I would have to unload it and leave it unwatched for an unknown period of time? Also it says I need a Bill of Sale but its been several years since I bought the boat and can't seem to locate the BOS and don't know if I'll be able to hunt the guy down that sold it to me. Any suggestions for either would be greatly appreciated.

I had to get a weight on a "home made" since I didnt have a bill of sale or a VIN# on a rig I had a couple years ago. Took the trailer to the waste management transfer station on Gumm Rd. I dropped my boat off with a buddy on the oclocknee ramp just before midway off hwy 90. Ran back up the road to waste management I think it was like $5. i remember it being super cheep and hassle free. they gave me a receipt with a weight and the DMV didn't ask any questions

The trailer weight is usually listed on the registration. Not sure if you gave them your Ga Reg or not. I would think you should be able to transfer your old registration for a new one here in Fla.

There is a scale in St Marks. You can launch your boat and tie it up at Shields while you weigh the trailer.

I was thinking the same thing but the weight is not listed on my Georgia registration. There is a tag on the inside of the trailer frame but it does not list the weight either, just the GVWR

Is your trailer a single axle or tandem. What is the GVWR on the tag ? Four lug or five on the rims?

Single axle, GVWR is 3,500, Net Carrying Capacity 2,900, 5 lug

Your trailer should weigh 600lb.

I don't think the DMV will allow you to calculate the weight. They want something official. It's easy to do in St Marks.

Correct, He is going to have to do that. I was just giving him an estimated weight.

I believe you are correct on the weight. But, they will not take that or even look at the tag on the trailer. I either have to have a manufacturers statement of weight or a certified weight slip. I will be in st. Marks tomorrow so hopefully I can get it weighed there. Thanks for all the help
