Boat Mechanic recommendations

Has anyone used a boat mechanic near Lanark or Carrabelle? I got a two of cables that need to be replace on my yamaha motor going to my center console G3.

Cables aren't that hard to run yourself if you have a string already in place under the floor of the boat. If not, you can use one of the old cables to pull one through.
Be sure you order the same sized cables you already have. Shorter or longer can make problems.

My old Mercury throttle box (2003 model), actually has a plate you can remove from the side to replace the cables so you don't have to take the entire box loose from the console.

If you don't want to do it yourself, I would run it over to Waivel Porter's in Woodville.

Thanks Steve. The only problem is that a G3 boat ran the cables on the side of the boat. The side has rivets and I don't know which ones to remove. After I get it done the first time I will do it myself.

Also Wefings marine in Appalach. Keep in mind everyone is going to be swamped with boat repairs this time of the year. BTW, you do not need to remove the side panel to pull the new cables on the G3. I watched them put new cables on the same boat you have on a sat. in a parking lot in Port St. Joe . it takes about one hour or so to do the job.

Waivel Porter's put my control cables in for $150.00 and Mike's Marine sold me the cables for $102.00. So if you own a boat you will need a sack full money. When out this morning to see the fine workmanship Mr. Porter did with the installation. Looks like they just slap them cables in. No tie wraps on the cables and the booth where the cables come thru the hull was tore up. Also before I left the boat that morning I ask Mr. Porter about helping me with installing a new Depth Finder. He assure me that while he's got the boat broken down that he would help me with this installation. When I got there yesterday the boat was put back together and I believe his son told me that his dad wanted to complete one job and if I bought it back tomorrow he would help me with the Depth finder.

I had a 17' G3CC and pulling the cables is easy. I just taped the the new one to the end of the old one and pulled it through.
