1998 Johnson 20"

Post by MudDucker »

I've decided that the Ol Pro needs to move to the 4 stroke world so I've ordered me a new motor. That means my 1998 Johnson with a 20" shaft will soon be available. Nothing wrong with the motor, cranks and runs fine. It is a 2 stroke. It has been in salt water, but I am OCD about flushing it out every time it runs in the salt. Will come with whatever my dealer takes off of my boat to replace with new. $1500 is what he said it is worth. Can send pics and I am negotiable. Would be a great way to up the power on some of these under powered pontoons I see.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Is it 300hp or 25hp. Might make a difference to someone. ;)

Ok, just be that picky! Its a 115hp with stainless prop. Would push my Ol 24' Pro around 30mph at top end, but I usually cruise at 4000 rpms and 26 mph.

Motor was checked and compression was all good. It is off the boat. Comes with controls and a stainless prop. This would be great to power a pontoon boat.

Or a center console or larger flats boat. GLWS.

I had a 150 4 stroke yammy installed about 3 weeks ago. Amazing difference in sound and power.

Sounds like a good match. The latest generation of four-strokes are impressive!

I sure hope so. I got 17 good years out of that old Johnson. 17 out of this one will probably get me to the end of my fishing days.
