Climate change benefit
Always thought that my first ever snook catch would come from Bradenton, or Naples, or the Keys.
Nope.
Pulled a 17 inch snook out of the Deep Creek levee this afternoon. This MID-OCTOBER AFTERNOON!
I think I was more surprised than the snook.

Cool catch!
Re: Climate change benefit
I never heard of anybody catching one this far north. But now tarpon and manatees are fairly common here, so why not?

They're catching snook in Jax on a regular basis and I've heard a few reports of catches in Georgia Saint Simons area).

Re: Climate change benefit
With rare exceptions, tarpon and manatee don't stick around during the winter, though. Snook can be found year-round as close at Crystal River.
Nice accomplishment, Gary.
An unusual catch but becoming more commonplace in the "ice age" we're living in.

Nice! You sure it wasn't a trout in a snook suit?
Good to know they're up here.

Re: Climate change benefit
Anybody ever catch a keeper up here (28 inches)? Mine was lightly lip-hooked and sent back into the creek, so maybe I'll see it grownup in a year or two.

If it doesn't freeze. Snook ar delicious, but I don't think I could kill a keeper if I caught it up here.GaryDroze wrote:Anybody ever catch a keeper up here (28 inches)? Mine was lightly lip-hooked and sent back into the creek, so maybe I'll see it grownup in a year or two.

I figured others were finding them today. I caught these 2 this morning. The biggest was 21 inches.
