Well. That didn't go exactly as I would have hoped.
NOAA called for calm winds and 1 foot seas. It was too rough for Mrs. Geno to make the ride to the nearest reef (2.5' seas and 10 knot South wind). We fished a couple of oyster bars in close and got nothing, not even a nibble. We found the wreck we've been looking at from NOAA's inshore lidar survey and fished around it a bit...again ...nothing. I hit the dang wreck while trying to pinpoint it with the sonar. That was not fun.
We ran out 3 miles to the bird rack and tried around it. Caught 1 little dink and got a few nibbles but pretty much nothing also.
While I was rinsing my hands from the little dink with all the slime, my college ring came off and went bloop.................gone. I would have gone in after it but I had pockets full of crap I did not want soaked in salt water.
All in all, one heck of an expensive trip, cold, uncomfortable and rough.
We did see some deer, 3 Bald Eagles and an eagle's nest. That was pretty cool. The sunset was gorgeous too - it was cloudy and cold until we came in then the sun came out just as it was setting. If someone can post pics we have some ok ones of the eagle's nest.
