St. Joe Bay 11/6/04

Post by birddog »

Hit the bay with a buddy about 7:30 a.m. It was pretty choppy at first, but settled down nicely during the day. The water was clear, but somewhat cloudy. We found some trout west of Blacks Island in the middle grounds area. Had to sort through a lot of shorts to find 6 keepers. The largest was 17.5"

Caught trout on mirrolures, Catch 2000's and Top Dog Jr.'s Didn't do much on jigs with or without C/T cork. Had some live shrimp but only managed to catch 1 trout on live bait. Weird, huh? My buddy also caught 1- 5lb. pompano on a catch 2000. Great day on the bay, it was good to be back down there. The trout seem to be moving into the intercoastal waterway from what I hear. Saw 1 real nice (35") redfish, and I hear the pompano have been moving through the bay following the coastline. Can't wait until next time.
