Off The Bucket List-Venice La
We left out of Carrabelle last Saturday for 280 mile trek to Venice Louisiana. The seas were amazingly 1-2 footers so we were able to make great time. Did stop for for a small log and boated 2 triple tail and couple dolphin. Got to Venice in about 7 hours, unloaded our gear into rented houseboat at Venice marina. Alarm clock Went off at 5 every morning so we were headed out by 6am. Three days of fish’n and boated yellow fin and black fin tuna, with more dolphin added to the box.
We got plenty off culled bait from the many shrimp boats. What an adventure!!! If you haven’t been, this needs to go on your bucket list. Here’s a few pictures.

Nice, have considered driving there for a charter.
Did you take a local guide with you, or you guys already knew what to do and where to go?

No guide needed, my friend’s son goes 2-3 times a year and knew where to go.

That's Awesome! You'll be eating high on the hog for quite some time. Great pictures too. I used to go for a three day stay but always drove over, rented a cabin and hired a charter. Haven't been in a few years since my buddies quit going. I need to find 5 or 6 others to share expenses and go back. The fishing and scenery is unbelievable and I miss the tuna steaks.

Looks like an awesome time, maybe if I get this job in Mississippi I will be able to cross it off my list as well.
Re: Off The Bucket List-Venice La
Juan, we considered towing the boat over but it would take 8 hours to drive, only 6 hours by boat.

I'd have taken the boat too if mine were that nice... but my truck gets miles per gallon and the boat gets gallons per mile.Greenbone wrote:Juan, we considered towing the boat over but it would take 8 hours to drive, only 6 hours by boat.

I see why you didn't need a charter.

Greenbone,
Great pics. We have done this a few times now as well, although mostly in the winter time. It is a lot of fun. Last year we fished the same area from Alabama.
On the way there and back did you guys run the South Channel or did you cut through Baptiste Collette?
