Thursday @ Econfina - Too windy???

I am planning a trip to Econfina on Thursday. Here is the coastal forecast

THURSDAY...SOUTHEAST WIND 15 KNOTS...DIMINISHING TO 10 KNOTS. SEAS 4 TO 6 FEET...SUBSIDING TO 3 TO 4 FEET. PROTECTED WATERS A MODERATE CHOP...BECOMING A LIGHT CHOP. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS.

Is this too rough for inshore? I'd like to here everyone's opinion. We will be in a 17' Key West and plan to go out no more than 1 mile.

If safety is your concern, IMO you should be OK in your 17'KW. The moderate chop is what your going to be dealing with, if your only going out 1 mile. There is a negative tide forcasted for 7ish in the AM with the high occuring around 1:30 so be careful of the rocks if your going out early. I would say your best approach is to continue to monitor the forcast to see if the conditions hold up, get worse, or (lets hope) improve even sooner than Thursday mid day.

It's looking worse right now

Southeast wind 15 to 20 knots early...becoming south 10 to 15 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet subsiding to 2 to 3 feet in the afternoon. Protected waters a light to moderate chop. Chance of showers.

Okay, where should I fish with a southeast wind. Barring severe weather I am planning to go. I try to take advantage of the few opportunities I get to head the coast to fish. I just wanted to reassure my two fishing partners who are not as die hard as I.

Well there isn't much to chose from, it won't be easy to fish, but you could try the east side of the St. Marks, maybe the east river, southeast of Keaton in close might be doable...St. Joe bay, St. Andrews bay......It really depends on if the wind is truly southeast....Look at the map and find the leeward bays, banks and coves....

Remember it's fall and more fish should be in close..Find a creek...but be mindful of the wind and fishing in close, might scratch your boat or get stuck.....

Thanks for the input guys. It's not looking any better.

I think we are going to go bass fishing to a pond instead. If anyone goes let me know how the weather turned out.
