My tach needle moves to 2000 when I turn on ignition, engine not even running. Any idea what the problem is?

Re: Tachometer question
Water in your key switch can cause this, does your boat stay outside or have you recently washed it. moister inside the switch can cause it to have a low voltage short

Yes sir, just let it dry out. It is such a low voltage it won't hurt anything.
