Battery recommendation

What's up everyone. Just curious if anyone has some input about my next battery purchase. I am currently running a 2 battery system that also supports my amp and speaker system. When the engine isn't running and radio playing the batteries seem to die pretty quick which is bringing me to think it's about that time. I haven't had them checked yet but will.

What batteries do you suggest that will get me the longest life to blast some tunes? Or any different types of set up or accessories that will improve the length between charges or running the motor.

With batteries, you get what you pay for. Look for one in your price range with the longest reserve capacity. Optima Blue Tops have a great rep.

If you're within ear range, I'd recommend a single Duracell AAA battery.

I have always had good performance from Interstate batteries. AGM have good reserve capacity.

Not to derail the thread, but have you tried it yet Chris? I’ve been considering pulling the trigger, and just got some more motivation today. I trust jl marine like crazy, just haven’t heard ANY real world experience ( even on fishing/boating forums)

Also, look into a ACR (automatic charging relay) it allows the motor to charge two batteries without worrying about one running the other down. You can get them from Blue Seas or Yandina.

Is seems as there is another good option. Some guys on mbf are high on a unit called the stealth ac/dc... it’s less than half the price of the jl and their customer service is supposed to be as good or better

SG, I haven't. I still have my Deka's on the boat from when I bought it, they're mfg 2017 per the sticker. I'm going to squeeze all the life I can out of them and will likely make the jump. Maybe a year or so (or less?). Waiting to see how a lot of these lithiums do in FL heat later this summer.

That ac/dc unit has been getting A TON of praise lately.

Hard to go wrong with Interstate. Great service in Tallahassee. Try to go with a 31 size lead or lithium with same cap. Check your motor for an aux charging circuit. Most motors 150 and up have them.

Lately I’ve been using interstate marine batteries from Costco.

Not overly expensive, good warranty, and you can exchange a battery out if it goes bad no questions asked.

I run my flounder gigging lights on one, trolling motor on another, and can get a few trips in before I have to recharge. That’s 4-6 hours a trip.

I have talked to a fishing team about the lithium batteries they had switched over too. They normally have to replace their batteries yearly due to heavy usage. Since switching to lithium they went from 3 batteries on the boat to 1 lithium which is a weight saver in itself. The battery so far had outlasted their previously used batteries. No personal experience, but they couldn't say enough good things about making the switch.

Have any of you tried INOX imo it is great stuff just replaced a battery which was purchased in 2003 i have 4 batteries on my boat that have been in use for almost 6 years and no issues .

I have not, but just looked them up. Definitely a cool product I didn’t know existed. Thank you for the information.
