Darn Addictions!!!

Post by drayno »

Hey Guys,

Well it's now been almost 6 weeks since I've been fishing. :o :o :o I have my wedding comming up and all I can think about is getting out on the pier or wading down at St. Marks. I don't even care if I catch anything at this point I just need to get out of the house.
I got snared into working for the last 28 days solid. I was really hoping to get some fishing in down at St. George, the shift in the water temps has had to bring something new in, I got really tired of the sail cats. Every day I walk downstairs past the close to $1200 in fishing gear and just sigh. Six months ago when I cast out for the first time in 12 years I had no idea I would get this hooked (pun intended), but damn I need to fish! The last time I was out I caught a 2.5' spansih mac and have been needing to go out since.
For you vetrans of the fishing world how on earth do you handle the times in your life where it's impossible either financially or because of scheduling to go out fishing. I almost considered getting bassmaster for the X-box so I could at least virtually fish, but I decided that would just make the need worse. The bachelor party is comming up this weekend and I"m on the verge of telling my groomsmen that I could care less about the strippers and that I want to fish!! Any suggestions for a guy with no time and even less money on how to get a quick fishing fix. I live in Tallahassee and don't have a boat. From what I've experienced the shore fishing on the lakes is pretty much the same as fishing in a bath tub. I need the feel of a fish on either my Penn 4500 SS or my Shimano TLD20. The bigger the fish the better.

Married on Thanksgiving weekend? This weekend or next? Well at least you won't forget when you got married. Mail me drayno. Maybe I can hook you up. With fishing that is. If not, just go. Hope your bride will understand the primordial urges to fish.

Talk your buddies into taking you on a charter for the batchler party :o . You'll remember it and you may get some benefit from it (fish in the freezer), which is more than I can say for the alternative. Include a weekend in PC with fishing and strip clubs (do they still have those there?) and you have best of both worlds.

There are plenty of great charters close by, from Destin to Cedar Key and if you can get your groomsmen to pay for it you're good-to-go.

Just a little pre-marital advice; buy all the new rods, lures, tackle, trucks, tires and rims, dogs and boats you want, now. If you don't get them before you're married, it may be awhile before you find a good reason to "waste money on something like that". :smt112

Or, you can do both at the same time. A charter captian once told me about a time they hired a stripper to go out on the bachelor party charter. She acted like she was a "trainee deckhand", until they got off shore and the clothes started coming off.

Wedding is Dec 4th. Bachelor party is this upcomming weekend in Miami. Had originally planned on a charter boat, but one guy whined about it being too expensive another whined about not liking to fish (he should be shot.) So I decided that 1 boat between three guys was too much for me at that point. So the charter boat got cancelled. That was originally the plan. I'm picking up one of my guys in PCB this week, I think I'll take a couple poles and a tackle box. The stripper while fishing, that sounds interesting. :P Thanks for the advice guys.

The location kind of does dictate things. Since we've already booked the hotel and three strip club parties. :o But since my grooms men are such broke sissies, I'm planning an early spring fisihing trip on a boat. I have a couple of friends who are comming down from Missouri and they are interested in hitting the salts. So once they're down here I"ll defaintely be looking for a charter. I was really hoping to fish the Atlantic since I"ve never done it, but ce la vi. Hopefully I'll have a good day out in PCB this week. Who knows. Thanks for the advice on the charter, I'll keep that in mind when my fishing friends come down.
