I'm happy to report I'm on the board for 2020. I registered my first red and trout on Sunday. It was hot but tolerable on the water with a nice SE breeze. The parking lot at the lighthouse was like Memorial Day weekend. They were hauling one dude off in the ambulance, no idea what his issue was.

Since you can only register one red and trout per day, I assume you are getting conservation entries. Is that the case?

Could also do fly division. Both species are eligible so one of each per day on the long rod is possible. Fly division rules do require the fly rod/reel to be in the photo with the STAR ruler.Salty Gator wrote:Since you can only register one red and trout per day, I assume you are getting conservation entries. How many have you registered on fly? I don’t think I’ve ever seen Fary with a fly rod whensilverking wrote:Could also do fly division. BTW, I stopped doing conservation entries after 2018. Accidentally killed way too many short trout just to get numbers. My karma score went way down that year. Never again.

That seemed a little counter conservation to me also Gary. I don’t mess with it either. After a red and a trout, I’m done. I forgot about snapper and grouper. I missed at least 8 entriesGaryDroze wrote:BTW, I stopped doing conservation entries after 2018. Accidentally killed way too many short trout just to get numbers. Haven't had a fly entry yet. I've been carrying the 6-weight, but every time I do it's blowing 15+ knots. I should leave it at home and it'll be greasy calm.
And I'm with you guys on the conservation. Borderline is one thing but putting dinks through the stress in this hot water is contrary to the purpose.
SG, maybe you can get some snapper and grouper entries this w/e.

By the way, the latest STAR update shows four tagged redfish have been caught already--all by non-registered anglers. So those individuals missed on their choice of brand new boat, motor and trailer packages.
Don't be kicking yourself if you are lucky enough to net a tagged redfish. They are out there. Also snapper, grouper and dolphin categories for offshore enthusiasts. The tournament runs through October 4.

Got a trout and red entry today. Too bad there's not a sea cow division.
Also caught my biggest redfish. Couldn't weigh him cuz the batteries in my digital scale were dead but it took over 30 minutes to land him on 10 lb test. fun day!
