Been stalking the forum for a few weeks in preparation for our trip to SGI. Went out fishing early this am with no bites...
Anyone willing to offer any tips for the next few days for our visit? Would like to put the kids on some fish when the weather warms up a bit later in the week. Fishing from our boat. Thanks for any help!

Cold weather's pushing the trout up into deeper holes on the rivers. Use small #1 hooks with shrimp for sheepshead around docks & pilings

Thanks! So Appalachicola River a deeper hole would be 15-20ft or more? How far up the creeks/river are we talking? A few miles or more?
I really appreciate the help!

Early this AM......when it was at or about freezing? Are you from Michigan? LOL
Honestly, this time of year on the Island is tough sledding. When it warms up in the afternoon and the tide is high, try the flats on the bay side of the island for Trout and /or Reds.
A trip to SGI in May or October will make you think the catching is easy there. After a Christmas cold spell you may wonder if there are any fish that live there at all.
Good luck and enjoy, its a beautiful time to visit there. "Visit".

Haha, nah from KY originally. Heard there are striper in the river this time of year so went scouting. Used to crush them up north in December.
Wind and temps look favorable tomorrow, probably try to hit the flats for Reda and pilings for sheeps. Thx y’all

should be bull reds in the pass. can usually find pockets of trout in the ICW (at least you can on the PSJ side). Fun ride through Wimico to PSJ if you've never done so. ~30miles each way.
