Post by Flats Rascal »

A friend has a Merc 200 Offshore. Needs a new or rebuilt foot/ lwr unit. He was quoted $2,000+ for a new one.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Replaced the lower unit on my 200 Merc 2 years ago. Got a new complete lower unit from Mercury. The insurance company and I paid $3400 for that one.

A friend of mine purchased a rebuilt lower unit from IBoat. After they replaced it 3 times he went and bought a new one. I don't reccommend them.

Mercury also sells a rebuilt lower unit with a 1 year warranty, if they have one in stock. Not sure how much it is. Pete, at Sunshine, says the factory rebuilt units from Mercury are good. They just didn't have one when I needed it.
What was I supposed to do today?
