Who cares about the wind?

Post by Phil. 4:8 »

On Friday October 3, 2025, my nephew and I put in at the Light House and soon asked what we were doing going out in this wind. The weather guy said "small craft advisory", but the best time to go fishing is when you can. So, we cleared the Light House jetties and took our time to get to the first stop, Mini cove just past the light house. Set the anchor (3 times due to the wind) and soon landed a couple of puppy drum red fish. Not a bad start and they will be grown when y'all catch them next year. Next stop was in the next cove, and we landed 4 more reds, short but fun to catch and release. Moved a couple times and ended the day with 8 reds and one of those was invited home for supper. Did I mention the wind; it was out of the east/northeast about 10 to 15 with gust up to 20 MPH. As we were headed in, the wind shifted to the northwest and was a little less strong, but still blowing hard. Sometimes you can go out on the gulf and get your hat/butt handed to you with a small breeze, other times a gale seems to let you fish just because you had the guts (not brains) to go out anyway. Y'all go try em and don't forget to post.

Great job. I avoid strong East winds because the seas tend to be choppy than forecast.
