St marks offshore 12/16

Post by doomtrpr_z71 »

Decided to pull my boat down early for a guided trip for some customers at hit some numbers I had for west of St marks. I had originally planned on running out of mashes sands but the fish camp closing at 4 in the winter made us put in at the fort.
First had to make through the idiots in the channelImage

Not as bad as the ecofina but I swear I'll never understand people fishing in the middle of the channel.

It was a bit foggy out of the river

But we could see the lighthouse :-D

First stop was a bust but it was a public number that I had never hit so it was worth a look, second spot we hit paydirt.

I love the pork chop of the sea especially as fish tacos and I was disappointed in my trip in November as we found few of them and they were small.

After catching a bunch and these stupid things showing up we moved on

And found some strawberrys

But unfortunately we started catching gags and the action died and we moved again. The new spot immediately started producing 12in seabass, it's nice when you catch seabass with that hump on the head and you know they will keep. Unfortunately time was running out and we had a 25 mile ride back to the river so we had to leave them biting after catching 6. But we had nice mess of fish

Even if I did manage to break the step on the front of my trailer fender

But supper at tropical traders made it better

Greek style rock bass may be my new favorite way to eat seabass now and was probably my favorite thing I have ever had there outside of the shrimp pasta.

All was looking good for the customer trip the next day.

Outstanding. I love all the pictures. What are the yellow and orange things next to your hooks? Colored weights, beads?

They are actually floats, I usually do them when I do squid but we only used shrimp this trip because all the squid ended up getting sucked out of my baitwell :smt005
